LETS GO ON A DATE.....YOUR TREAT
Hey, did you guys know that many who go to Broadway shows often go to big fancy restaurants too? Sometimes in the same evening! I know I know, its hard to believe.

While I do have a
few choice dinner spots in the district, I usually pick up a sammy or a salad at EuroPan, EuroMarche, or Europa Cafe, EU Patisserie or McEuros. But not for two weeks in July people. Those weeks I'll be "eating famously" thanks to NYC Restaurant Week. Check out the list and make a reservation for $35.00 dinners* at such fancy-pants eateries as Bond 45, Firebird, Thalia, Chez Josephine or Dallas BBQ.

And since we're talkin' food. Have you people been to
Red Mango on 8th Ave and 45th? Oh my god amazing.

*$35 does not include beers, martinis, half-carafes of wine, tax or tips.

Did you just place the words "eating famously" near Dallas BBQ?

Please don't start a food blog. ;)

i'm all about Pam Real Thai on 9th and 48th. One of the best thai restaurants in Manhattan.

When I was a kid, my parents would take the family on a yearly trip to NYC. We'd go up for four or five days, and go to at least one museum and 1-2 shows a day. I remember I had this fantasy while reading Playbills that when I was a Broadway actor, I'd get to recommend my favorite neighborhood restaurants in that column they have. Oddly enough, this was the height of my Broadway fantasy, the restaurant recommendation. I was heartbroken when I learned that they're paid advertising and not written by the actors who recommend them.

Oh snap! I completely forgot about Pam Real Thai. I love their massaman curry. When they remodeled, my whole world was thrown askew.

We should talk about those restaurant recommendations. I too as a child considered this the height of success. It was one day I went backstage at ELEPHANT MAN and the girl I was visiting had a recommendation in the playbill. Clearly this was all I wanted to talk about (how did you choose? how honored you must feel? do you get free dessert there now?) and to my horror, she said had never eaten there. Ever. Like ever ever.

Ever.

Something should really be done about this public manipulation. Who can I write a letter to?

This is me telling you what's worth your time and money in New York theatre. I'm not a critic. So don't read this for any kind of brilliant analysis. But I do critique the critics. I'm also fascinated by theatre marketing. And expect some gossipy posts too. I'm into that. Feel free to leave comments.
