  PLAY. YAY!
This is not exactly Monday entertainment. Probably not holiday season entertainment either. But since I have no patience, I'm posting this film version of Samuel Beckett's, PLAY, that I absolutely love and watched on repeat for about 9 days back when it was released in 2000.

You couldn't ask for a better collaborative team of Anthony Minghella, Alan Rickman, Kristin Scott Thomas and Juliet Stevenson (Juliet Stevenson!, I know!).

Youtube won't let me embed this one, but you can follow the links. Unless you work in a quiet, serene environment, I recommend saving this for later, just before you go to bed, with the lights off. And make sure you watch both parts.

Comments:
this is the perfect antidote to f-ing vanessa williams singing "silver and gold"...or that cool whip "it's that special time of year" jingle. what the f? it makes me want to hit something, hit it hard.

runners-up:
clay aiken, "white christmas"
michael feinstein, "it's beginning to look a lot like christmas"
whitney houston, "do you hear what i hear"

it's like, yes whitney. unfortunately i do hear what you hear.

these evoke another steel thought: "don't try to get on my good side, truvy. i no longer have one."

although i do kind of like celine's "o holy nite"--holy shit more like it.

This is me telling you what's worth your time and money in New York theatre. I'm not a critic. So don't read this for any kind of brilliant analysis. But I do critique the critics. I'm also fascinated by theatre marketing. And expect some gossipy posts too. I'm into that. Feel free to leave comments.
